Blind Tiger Tidbits

Prohibition took effect 100 years ago today, and we're making a cocktail to celebrate. Have some prohibition facts to help you celebrate with us.  Prohibition FACT: New York City had over 100,000 speakeasies. Prohibition FACT: You could go to a blind pig or a blind tiger (sound familiar?) and purchase a ticket to see an animal at a local establishment. The ticket came with a free drink. Prohibition FACT: During prohibition it wasn't actually illegal to drink alcohol. It was illegal to sell or manufacture it. 

Our New Year  We started 2020 with a party. Our basement turned into a speakeasy. We invited friends and family to a perfectly legal tea party and hid a password in the invitation. This led them to a hidden Eventbrite page where they had to input the password to get an official invitation. Period costumes were mandatory, of course. We made cocktails, we danced to swing music, we took pictures in front of our mugshot wall.  How was your New Year? Cocktail of the Month - Yule Mule INGREDIENTS 4 ounces vodka 1.5 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice (about 1 lime) 4 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice 6 ounces ginger beer 4 to 6 cranberries, for garnish 1 rosemary sprig, for garnish INSTRUCTIONS In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake together the vodka, lime juice and cranberry juice. Fill two copper mule mugs or old-fashioned glasses with ice. Strain half of the cocktail into each glass. Top each glass with ginger beer. Garnish with cranberries and a sprig of rosemary.
